Abstract
This paper presents the evaluation of an antiracist pilot training program for teachers implemented in two elementary schools in Puerto Rico. The program represents a novel effort to systematize and evaluate an intervention that aimed to explore if changes in the knowledge of participants about the following areas occurred: 1) the definition of racism; 2) racism in the curriculum; and 3) interpersonal racism. We present the program evaluation‘s design, the most significant results, and a critical analysis. Findings suggest that the main objective of raising teachers‘ consciousness was achieved but that there were challenges in the application of this knowledge to pedagogical praxis and to the curriculum. The intervention is analyzed and alternatives for future antiracist intervention strategies and research are presented.Downloads
