La historia política en la agenda inacabada de la Nueva Historia

Abstract

Throughout his career, Gervasio García, one of the leaders of the "New History" movement in the 1970‘s and 1980‘s, has repeatedly called for a new political history to match the renovated economic, social, and cultural history of Puerto Rico. He has pointed out that historians should look not only at those who govern but also at the other components of society. A brief overview of the traditional historiography on the 19th Century Spanish state in Puerto Rico illustrates some of the current concerns.
