Abstract

This article discusses the foundation of the Puerto Rican Section of the Anti-Imperialist League of the Americas (1925-1927) and its brief rela-tionship with the leaders of the emerging Puerto Rican Nationalist Party. The study affords an insight into the interaction between these apparently diverse and distant political enclaves, usually understood as ideologically isolated. The analysis also affords a glimpse into the political experience and internal dynamics of the Nationalist Party and its leaders, during an obscure period of its history. The story highlights the significance of the 1920‘s as an ideological melting pot of political visions in the making, as well as a meeting point for leaders and entities in search of allies, an international platform and a solid social base of support for their movements.
