Un "voyerista" en el archivo: propuesta teórica-metodológica para una historia de la sexualidad (Puerto Rico, siglo XIX)

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the abundant possibilities of locating documentary collections to study the history of sexuality in Puerto Rico during the Nineteenth Century. The concept of transgression is used to identify conflicts within the institutions serving as overseers of permissible sexual practices. Permitted practices are identified and documents pertaining to said practices are traced in archival collections. Finally, some ideas are proposed for the analysis of said documentation.
