Sterility Studies With M3 Oat Lines

Abstract

M₃ generation oal lines derived from populations treated with irradiation and chemical mutagens, were studied to estimate the extent of sterility attribulable to mutagen treatment. It was found that the fertility for all mutagen-derived populations was similar to the cheek, and that sterility did not contribute significantly to the genetic variability for the characters observed.
