This organism lives primary in the tracheary tissues of the sugar cane but occasionally spreads to surrounding tissues. It does not cause hypertrophy of the host tissues. 3. It is the cause of a disease of sugar cane known locally as "dry top rot". 4. It is known only in Porto Rico and only in cane. 5.
