Abstract

Three greenhouse experiments were conducted at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez to study the potential of the bacteria Pasteuria penetrans (an Australian population) as a biocontrol agent of the rootknot nematode Meloidogyne incognita in tomato plants. Roots from plants infected with the nematode and bacteria had significantly lower root-knot indexes, and fewer Meloidogyne larvae and eggs than those infected with the nematode only.
