Abstract

1. The yearly investment in phosphoric acid as a fertilizer for sugarcane in Puerto Rico is about $800,000. 2. Phosphoric acid applications have not exerted any effect, either beneficial or detrimental, on the cane yields of several successive sugarcane crops grown on the coastal plains of Puerto Rico. 3. Sugarcane may be raised for several years in the coastal plains of Puerto Rico without any phosphoric acid applications and with no appreciable reduction in sugarcane yields.
