Observations on the chromosome number of pennisetum ciliare

Abstract

Chromosome counts are given for various strains of Pennisetum ciliare, commonly named "buffel grass" and "anjan grass". All strains of P. ciliare reported upon herein are tetraploids, with but one exception, which seems to be a hexaploid.
