CHRISTOPHER F. GIVAN grew up in Washington D.C., Italy and the Philippines. He received his B.A. from Yale University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Stanford University. He has taught at Yale, the University of California, Santa Barbara and the university of Bucharest in Romania where he was the Fulbright Senior Lecturer in American Literature during 1976-1978. In Puerto Rico he taught at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez before joining the Department of English in Rio Piedras. Professor Givan has published essays on Shakespeare and Conrad as well as short stories and poems.
