ELISABETH MARIE ARBUCKLE, was born in Pasadena, California, and educated at Pasadena City College and University of Oregon (B.A.), the University of California at Los Angeles (M.Ed. an M.A.)and the University of Edinburgh, Scotland (Ph.D.). She came to Puerto Rico in 1958 -as a temporary resident= and has been here since. She is active in the Natural History Society of Puerto Rico and enjoys gardening and travel. Her dissertation "Harriet Martineau‘s Letters to Funny Wedgewood 1834-1871" will be published by Stanford University Press in 1981.
