LOWELL A. FIET grew up in Wisconsin and holds M.A. and a Ph.D. degrees in Communication in Arts from the University of Wisconsin. Ha has published articles on the plays of Eugene O‘Neill, modern tragedy, and Puerto Rican and "Nuyorican" theater and drama. He taught at Michigan State University and University of Oregon before becoming so intrigued by Puerto Rico that he decided to live and work here. Professor Fiet also writes plays (winning an Elmer Rice Fellowship from the Dramatist Guild while a graduate student) and some poetry and has for the past year been the Drama Critic for the San Juan Star. In the English Department at U.P.R., he teaches undergraduate courses in oral English and communication and graduate courses in modern drama.
