Marc Schnitzer received the Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Rochester in 1971. Before coming to U.P.R. in 1977, where he is now Professor of English, Linguistics and Communicative Disorders, he taught linguistics at Penn State and L‘Université Catholique de Louvain. Although he has published rather extensively in general linguistics and neurolinguistics, his present contribution to Cuadernos is his first venture in applied onomastics.
