Resumen

Este artículo discute el rol esencial que tiene la facultad en la ayuda a estudiantes universitarios afectados por eventos traumáticos. Los profesores/as universitarios están en una posición privilegiada para identificar y referir a tratamiento psicológico a aquellos estudiantes cuya exposición traumática los pone en riesgo de sufrir angustia, desórdenes de estrés agudo (ASD) o estrés post traumático (PTSD). La ayuda temprana y apropiada puede disminuir dificultades personales, sociales, académicas y de desarrollo de carrera. Por esta razón, es importante que los profesionales de la psicología eduquen a la facultad para proveer esa ayuda. El artículo ofrece guías para ayudar a la facultad a reconocer a estudiantes que estén experimentando angustia como consecuencia de un evento trágico y da sugerencias de cómo poder asistirlos.
